In a welcome gesture, the people of Botsa area under Kohima district have used the locally available agricultural product as gift items for VVIPs at the recently concluded official programme at Botsa.
Botsa EAC HQ, around 40 kms away from the state capital Kohima, recently got a new RD Block including a magnificent building for Government High School, Botsa.
Dr. Kevi Rio who led the presentation on behalf of Botsa Area Public Organization (BAPO) said that through such local product they wanted to convey to the government that they have benefited a lot with an effective slogan “Do not eat the seeds, but eat the fruits” as frequently stated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at the various programmes in the state.
It is learnt that the people of Botsa area have started making a good yield of agricultural products through proper utilization of the seeds being extended by the government, for which it desires to share with others too in return.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Minister for School Education Nyeiwang Konyak, Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development S. Pangnyuh Phom including top government officers present at the said official function were presented with a large quantity of local products neatly packed in bamboo baskets. The items included local rice, beans, ginger, orange, yonchak etc.
Rio it may be mentioned had been communicating to the people to “desist from eating the seeds but to eat the fruits”. He stated that people have to plant the seeds and then reap the fruits.
In one function, he told the gathering if they wanted development and want to become wealthy they should not eat the seeds but plant and eat the fruits.
