Give Naga Artists a chance

By the grace of God and the utilization of talents, today Nagas are in a competitive race in all aspects. But sadly, we are too good to depress and discourage our own people.

Nagas are undoubtedly music lovers and God has produced many Naga professional singers too who had produced many albums. But are we providing them room to grow and survive?

Today many young Naga singers possess ‘Elvis to MLTR’ abilities, but are we concerned about them? On the verge of peace talks and contemporary political issues, my conception or rather topic might sound awkward, yet the conclusion is same- struggle for survival and identity. To flash back, out of hundred foreign albums that a Naga family possess, I bet not even ten is of local artistes.

No doubt, Nagas are highly inflicted and influenced by foreigners; however we should also remember to contribute to the talents of our own people. Lets be matured enough to encourage and give chance to our own Naga artists by purchasing and demanding albums/cassettes by local artists in the record shops.

Media has been playing a significant role. However, if it could put yet a little more effort to popularize the local singers and their albums in the ‘Entertainment’ section of its esteemed daily, things could greatly and extensively change. Let’s learn to love things that belong to us.
