GMS Khomi upgraded to GHS

Khomi | December 15: In keeping with continuous focus on promotion of secondary education, the state government today upgraded the Government Middle School, Khomi under Phek district to that of Government High School.
Making an official declaration of the upgradation by unveiling a monolith here this morning, Deo Nukhu, advisor science &technology, art & culture and new & renewable energy stressed on the need to have a collaborative effort to make the school a qualitative learning centre for children.
Stating that the upgradation was a beneficial and happy moment for all, Nukhu, however said the upgradation would land in vain until unless the public put a collective effort in management of the school.
In this, he called upon the Village Education Committee, VCCs, GBs and all educated persons to come forward and put a concerted effort for proper functioning of the school.
K. Kire, joint director school education also urged upon the VEC to give its best effort for smooth functioning of the school.
He said the government has given the responsibility to the public to take care of the school and it’s now the duty of the public to make the school functional, and also to develop the educational performance of the students.
Kire also assured that necessary infrastructure and other facilities under SSA/RMSA will be made possible to this school.
Huruda, ex-VCC Upper Khomi said the school was established in 1946 and it was later upgraded to GMS in 1980.
He expressed gratitude to the state government for upgrading the school to GHS today, which he said has fulfilled the long felt desire of the Khomi community.
Also thanking the government for upgrading the school, Swuduvelu Khesoh, head teacher GMS Khomi in a representation made a fervent to the school education department to provide the required teachers. She also requested the department to look into the matter of school building construction, assembly hall, staff quarter and hostel for both girls and boys.
Earlier, the programme was chaired Kuvera Nakro while acknowledgement was done by Venezo Lohe, chairman VEC Khomi. Suneyi Vadeo, VEC member proposed vote of thanks.
