Government Middle School Orphanage, Seithogei emerged champions of the Inter-School Boys’ Under 16 Cricket Tournament organised by Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) at TM School Ground, Kohima, from March 22-25.
In the final match against Bayavü Higher Secondary School, GMS Seithogei put up a total of 166/3 in 25 overs.
Imkongtemsu and Epha led the scoreboard with 39 runs each, while Vizoletuo scored 28 runs.
However, the match was a one-sided affair as Bayavü HSS’ batsmen were bowled out after scoring a mere 19 runs, losing the match by a huge margin of 147 runs.
12-year-old fast bowler Dziesevotuo, the man of the match, took 4 wickets, while 11-year-old leg-spinning sensation Sangtsulen continued his good form and scalped 3 wickets.
In the individual awards, Sangtsulen of GMS Orphanage was adjudged the ‘Player of the Tournament’, while his teammate Epha was conferred the ‘Best Batsman’ title. Pukei Lamnyuo of Chandmari HSS and Nikugha of Bayavü HSS were declared the Best Bowler and Best Wicketkeeper respectively.
The closing programme and trophy presentation were graced by Viketho Kechu, Chairman, Nagaland Cricket Association Men’s Selection Sub-committee.
