KOHIMA, MARCH 19 (MExN): Lieutenant General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, visited Wokha on March 19 and laid the foundation stone for a War Memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the region.
The ceremony was organized by the Assam Rifles and attended by Assam Rifles officials, Ex-Servicemen, civil dignitaries, and local residents. The event began with a briefing on the proposed War Memorial, highlighting its role in honoring the sacrifices of regional soldiers.
During the ceremony, the GOC unveiled a plaque marking the foundation of the memorial, followed by a prayer. Representatives from the Ex-Servicemen League addressed the gathering, recalling the valour and contributions of the soldiers.
