Last year I had a disease which lasted ten months and it was suspected to be cancer. My family became worried and persistently persuaded me to go to Hospital for medical check up and ultimately I yielded and went to Bethel Hospital. On investigation Dr. Kezha told me that a tumour was in my rectum which should be removed immediately.
I am not afraid of getting operated but according to my personal conviction it is a discouragement to others for a preacher to lie on a sick bed in a Hospital. So I thought that I better die than being a stumbling block before others and for two times I prayed to God that he takes away my spirit. But circumstances led me to facing operation.
While in Hospital, a deacon from our church visited me and said “Kepethau (teacher), you are too bold to say that you are not afraid of cancer when you spoke in the church.” I replied, “It is true, I am not afraid of cancer.” The proprietor of the Hospital who is one of my closest friends advised me that I better take a cancer medicine chemo. I promptly replied, “Viyalie, is cancer more powerful than Jehovah?.” After several months he told me, “When I told you that you need to take chemo for precautionary measure, you seemed got angry but had you taken it you would not have been this strong today.”
I am not afraid of any kind of disease or the enemy Satan except God. Why? He alone was the Creator of the heaven and the earth , he is the Creator of my body , soul and spirit . He alone is my Lord, Saviour and Redeemer. He alone is the Sustainer. So he alone is the sovereign power over human life . Being ignorant of God is full of fear but being filled with the wonderfulness of God is full of joy, peace and courage. How wonderful the eternal life of God is ! How wonderful his wisdom is ! How wonderful his power is ! The will of God only is the sovereign power over my life. No disease, no enemy and nobody has the sovereign power over my life except the Creator. No disease and no enemy can change the will of God upon my life. So I challenge any enemy boldly. No power can take away any thing from or add to the will of God upon my life.
Naturally all men and women in the world pass through sufferings, trials or temptation and hardship in any form. Whatever it may, be God is not unaware of it. “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny ? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.” (Mat. 10:29)”. God knows the burden upon us and he is the final authority. Can God say , “ I love you but the deadly disease befalls you ? I want you to live long but Satan is against you ?” We have to have the fear of God instead of fearing the enemies whatsoever.
The will of God is sovereign over human life. He can save , heal , protect , cut short or prolong human life. He is the final authority over human life. “ Who of you by worrying can add a single hour of his life?” ( Mat. 6 : 27 ). Through having relationship with God, obedience to him and prayer, life can be saved or prolonged according to his will. So we have to have faith in him, to fear him and to live according to his will. When a time comes for the end of earthly journey , the life will pass to glory through any agency according to his will . So we have to have the fear of God only.
