Viewers from across Nagaland were left teary-eyed on late December 1 as six individual artistes including Prashant Tamang released a heart-rending song titled ‘Dil Mein Ho Sada’ on the online video sharing platform Youtube.
The song which translates to “You are always in our hearts” is in memory of the 14 innocent civilians that were killed on December 4 and 5 in Oting village of Mon district by the 21 Para Special Forces in 2021.
In conversation with The Morung Express on Saturday, Wangching Vamnokhu, one of the five Naga artistes said that the team put in their heart and soul into creating the song and the music video. “We are touched to have received many genuine feedbacks from the listeners,” he said.
Marking one year of the tragic Oting incident, the entire State will be observing ‘Black Day’ on December 4 and 5. Many had said that the song should be officially recognized as ‘the anthem for the Black Day.’
The music video includes a special appearance from Prashant Tamang, winner of the Indian Idol 3. Hentick Konyak is the man behind the poignant lyrics, while Akun Wanghum composed the song. The music was produced, mixed and mastered by Wangching Vamnokhu at Audio Craft Studio, Dimapur. Mendan Konyak was the director for the music video and cinematography and editing by Menang Jamir.
The comment section reverberated with “let justice be delivered,” while many others made phone calls to the artistes acknowledging them after watching the video. The music video was sponsored by Wanghum Brothers, Oting. The team acknowledged Nahyoh Wenkhuthum, Wingmei Hitwang Konyak, Yanyam Konyak, Shimmy Shim, Nahpang Wangnao and friends, Sakus Mission College Boys and Girls Hostel and Henthah Boys Hostel, Dimapur.
The music video opens with a war cry from a Konyak elder from Oting – Yanyam Konyak. It translates as:
“O beloved people of Oting
Hear my cry out
My tears are dried up mourning in pain
Oh dear 14 brothers of Oting
We thought it was just a lie but it turned out to be our worst nightmare
When you were born we were happy to hold and to carry you
And prayed for your long and beautiful life
Did you really leave us for the heavenly abode?
Please return and join us again in celebration.”
