A meeting programme for review of Aspiration district and disaster, relief and rehabilitation activities was held in the Kiphire DC conference hall with Governor PB Acharya on September 21.
Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Mohammed Ali Shihab IAS gave the welcome note followed by presentation of reports by key departments including Health Department Education, PWD R&B, Banking (LDM). Power point presentations were also given by SDO (C) Sardar about the Disaster/Relief and Rehabilitation, Aspiration District Report by SDO (C) and presentation in respect of ADC Hq. Seyochung by ADC Seyochung.
Governor PB Acharya with interacting with representatives from various civil societies, officers and the Head of Departments said that before year end lasting peace is coming. “Prime Minister Modiji with all possibility is keen to bring lasting peace in Nagaland as desired by people and the Naga political groups (NPG),” the Governor stated.
Surprised over the statistics presented by the banking sector in the district, the Governor said, “it is not logical when the banking sector give a statistics of 34,000 bank account holder in the district out of around 70000” and added, “it is miraculous to have this much account.”
Kiphire Aspirational District status ranks down to 69th from 26th position
Expressing concern the Governor said, out of nearly 600 districts in the country Kiphire district is fifth from the bottom and to this he said, “We are the reason for making the district backward and is also the reason for downfall.”
Strategy for development should come from the grass root level and not from the centre, he said and added that the country stand on the principles of Secularism, democracy and diversity but when students graduate form from university 80% of them are not employable which is a concern for all.
Congratulating the officers posted in the district, the Governor said, “You can do better and will do better.”
Reny Welfred, SDO (C), Kiphire while giving a presentation on Aspirational District status disclosed that the district ranked 26 out of 115 Aspirant District few month back but due to landslide the district now ranked 69 position. He also gave report of cash and kind that the district has received from outside towards the disaster relief fund.
Various departments gave presentation on the activities undertaken by the department.
Governor inspects landslide areas
Governor of Nagaland P.B Acharya interacted with the Town Council Official and business communities on September 21 at Kiphire Town Council hall. The Kiphire town Council gave a briefing about its formation and manpower and also the activities undertaken by them.
The Governor called upon all to create more awareness on cleanliness and assured to contribute Rs. 2 Lakh for purchase of garbage disposing vehicle as the council has only four vehicles at present. The Governor also inspected the women daily market at Kiphire.
During his visit to major landslide area at Kiphire town Mission Compound the Governor urged the district administration to construct proper retaining wall. He also visited Hopongkiu memorial hall and Government High School Yangphi Kiphire.
