With concerns raised by the opposition on whether the reservation policy was strictly being maintained, the Government assured the 5th Session of NLA that appointment will be done as per the policy of reservation of seats to the backward tribes.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, replying to a starred question raised by MLA Yitachu, on how the case of backlog reservation is followed, said that as per the Personnel & Administrative department’s Notification No. RCBT-5/87(Pt-II) dated 4th September 2015, if no candidate is available from a particular Backward Tribe whose turn has come on the roster, the vacancy shall not be filled by a candidate belonging to any other tribe.
Rio clarified that if the candidate from a particular BT, does not qualify for filling up the vacancy earmarked for the BT in the roster, such vacancy shall be treated as ‘backlog vacancy.’
Yitachu requested the government to strictly follow the policy so that every Backward tribe will progress and get due opportunity.
MLA Chotisuh Sazo raised concern on whether reservation of seats was maintained in Grade-III appointment made under Roads & Bridges Department, deputy chief minister Y. Patton who is minister in charge of Roads & Bridges assured the Assembly that backward tribe reservation will be maintained in appointments.
Replying to starred question, Patton informed that 132 appointment have been made under Road & Bridges from 1st April 2018 till date.
Later, replying to MLA Amenba Yaden, PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi informed that 19 Grade–III post have been appointed through departmental recruitment board from March 2018 till date.
MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu in supplementary question asked the minister for furnish the name of 19 appointees.
