Government Polytechnic Kohima attains 25 years

Minister Temjen Imna Along addressing the 25th years celebration of Government Polytechnic Kohima on October 22.
 

Kohima, October 22 (MExN): "For any seeds to grow, it takes time. Teaching and learning is an ever changing and acquiring process, for which we have to remain  ever consistent and persistent, " said Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs Minister Temjen Imna Along, while addressing the 25th years celebration of Government Polytechnic Kohima today.


The Minister asserted that a strong society is one that is humble, patient and steady and ever ready to learn, and be consistent at all cost and persistent toward its goal. He also stated that one may reach the goal, yet if one is not consistent and persistent, it will not help in attaining knowledge and wisdom to be sustainable.


The Minister also urged the students not only to focus on obtaining certificates, but to pursue for excellence by envisioning a better future for all.


The Minister said that the only way to increase the rate of employment is hard work and consistency towards the goal, and urged both the faculty and the students to pursue their goals with conviction.


Along also said that there shall come a time in the state of Nagaland, where there will be no more government polytechnic institutions, but there should come up engineering colleges as institutions for higher learning, Fashion department should become Regional Institute of Fashion technology with an objective to reach a stronger and more robust height.


 He also appealed the campus to become a green campus, and single used plastic free zone to create consciousness and become pioneers to be socially responsible citizens.


Along also suggested that a common pool be created to sponsor poor students coming to study in Government Polytechnics.


Along said "a time has come for the Nagas to pray, and refrain from mistrusting one another, the government of India, the state government, the revolutionary groups or the hohos, but this is a time to trust God and seek His guidance."


Along also asserted that solution will happen gradually, and that a time has come for our people to seek peace and do away with threat and intimidation and gun culture. "A time has come to stand bold and say 'Yes' to a magnanimous future," said Along.
