NORTH KIKRUMA, DECEMBER 30 (MExN): The Government Primary School (GPS), RD Block North Kikruma, on December29 celebrated its 50th golden jubilee, marking five decades of educational service since its establishment in 1975, along with the 35th general session of the North Kikruma Students’ Union.

The programme, held at the GPS Ground, was organised under the theme “Retrospect: Reignite, Focus” and was attended by community leaders, students and residents of North Kikruma village in Phek district.

Dr Neisatuo Mero, MLA, Government of Nagaland, who attended the event as the guest speaker, emphasised the importance of remaining connected to one’s roots. Addressing the gathering, he urged the people to be rooted in their village, respect their home and village, and remain deeply grounded in their identity, tradition and culture, stating that such foundations foster resilience and community pride in Nagaland’s hill villages.

Calling on the youth to cultivate a competitive spirit, the MLA encouraged them to strive for excellence while honouring their heritage. He also stressed the role of faith and hard work, saying that belief in God combined with diligence would propel the youth to greater heights and help sustain institutions such as the school for generations to come.

The celebration featured cultural performances, retrospectives on the school’s journey over the past five decades, and deliberations aimed at reigniting educational enthusiasm during the Students’ Union session.

Organisers also commended the collaborative spirit of North Kikruma village leaders and residents for their continued support towards the school and the students’ union.
