Governor reviews highway conditions in Nagaland

Kohima, September 26 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on September 26 convened a coordination meeting at Raj Bhavan to review ongoing works on the Kohima–Dimapur National Highway (NH-29) and other related stretches.

During the meeting, officials discussed the status of works along the Peren–Dimapur, Kohima–Jessami, Kohima–Mao and Dimapur–Kohima sections of the highway. They highlighted both the progress achieved and the challenges faced in these portions. A detailed PowerPoint presentation on the current status of the projects was made by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the Public Works Department (National Highways).

The Governor suggested exploring alternate connectivity in affected areas and stressed the need for proper drainage and sewage systems to ensure the long-term sustainability of the roads. He further stressed the importance of strict monitoring of overloaded trucks, particularly along the Nagaland–Manipur highway. Bhalla urged all concerned departments and agencies to work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of the projects for the benefit of the public.

Commissioner and Secretary, NPWD, Kesonyu Yhome, also apprised the Governor of specific highway locations where the State Government is undertaking management works.

The meeting was attended by officials from NHIDCL, the Government of Nagaland, Public Works Department (PWD) and National Highways officials. Also present were ADGP (Law & Order) Sandeep Tamgadge, Commissioner of Police Dimapur Aotula T. Imchen, Deputy Commissioner Kohima B. Henok Buchem and Deputy Commissioner Chumoukedima Polan John.
