DIMAPUR, MAY 10 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar has challenged students and scholars to take the period of schooling as a time to define their future by taking principled decisions. The governor said education is not only about ‘books, arts, sports’ and such activities but the absorption of the principles behind them.
Governor Kumar was addressing the “annual day celebration” of Delhi Public School in Dimapur, Thursday May 10 as chief guest of the occasion. “Education is not only about books, writing essays…education is to be able to absorb the principles behind all these activities and process,” the Governor told the gathered parents, students and government officials present for the school’s event. “Education at the school level is the period of foundation for the future; if you want to have a future, you must lay a very strong foundation first.”
The Governor reiterated that the period of schooling is one from which the future has to be built on. ‘This is the time you have to make decisions; to make a difference, achieve and differentiate between good and evil; this is the time, my young friends,’ Kumar told the students. “If you look at the future, there are challenges; you have to overcome them; we need leaders.”
The Governor also congratulated the institution for emerging to become one of the best schools in Nagaland during its nine years of competition since inception. Meritorious students of the school as well as those who excelled in various activities of the institution were honored during the “annual day celebration.” Another highlight of the celebration was an entertainment session presented and performed by students of Delhi Public School.
