Mezo Basa | February 19 : Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie officially inaugurated a new village- Mezo Basa in the Western Angami region this morning. Speaking on the occasion, Peseyie said that the vision of the present government is to help the poor people in manifold ways.
“In order to bring development, peace and unity is first prerogative and keeping this in view, the government makes all out efforts to bring peace in our land and it should be your endeavor to help the government in furtherance of this cause,” the speaker said. Peseyie said the people of the area in particular and the people of Western Angami area as a whole in general should feel proud for establishment Mezo Basa village ‘which is a great achievement.’ “With the establishment of this new village we have added one more village in this Western Angami region,” Peseyie said.
The speaker asserted that being the new village the people of this village has a special responsibility to develop its potentials to reach the ultimate goal i.e the highest development. “You have to take the full advantage of this new village and should contribute immensely for its development,” he said. The speaker also appealed to the people of Mezo-Basa to work tirelessly to transform the village as a model village in the Angami region “so that you can cherish the fruits of development in the days to come and shall have a prosperous future which can be glittering example for other villages to emulate.”
Giving a brief history of the new village, Mezo Basa chairman Rovigwelhou Chüsi said that the village was recognized by the Government on May 26 in 2009. Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd (NSCB) managing presented by Mezo Basa women group and Mezoma Youth Organisation. The inaugural function was chaired by Kezhaselie K. Kuotsu, convenor, inauguration committee while greeting was shared by Lhousievikho Niphi, president, MMK. The function concluded with vote of thanks by T. Husie Lhousa, treasurer MBVC.
