Govt officers & village leaders urged to ensure entitlements are reaching people

Kiphire, April 23 (MExN): Gauhati High Court Judge and Executive Chairman, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority Justice Songkhupchung Serto today reminded that “the government of India has taken care of our basic needs by setting aside various schemes and programme for everyone and one should avail the benefits through proper channel.” 

He was addressing a public during the inauguration of the mini legal camp organized by Kiphire District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority at public ground on April 23. 

On this, he asked if government officers and village leaders are making sure that the entitlements are reaching the people. 

Serto lamented that in villages, government schools are not functioning properly and teachers were not present in the place of posting. He called villagers to address such issues so that children receive proper education. 

He also called the public to take self responsibility and not to depend for everything on government while observing that drop out is increasing every year and at this rate it is alarming how Nagaland will be in the future. The judge also called upon government officers posting to take privilege of their posting in the district and render their services sincerely.

During the programme, Nino Iralu NJS, Secretary Law and Justice Department called the gathering to avail legal services available in the district. Neiko Akami NJS, Registrar, Guwahati High court, Kohima bench said that hiring lawyers was expensive everyone for which the government has provided free legal aid to help everyone. He also asked the public to know ones rights.

Bendangwati Sangtam, Retainer lawyer spoke on schemes under social welfare department, Michael Ayee APP, Kiphire spoke on schemes under Health and welfare scheme, and Limkushi Advocate spoke on Right to Education. The welcome address was delivered by N Lonshithung Ezung, District and sessions judge, cum Chairman DLSA, Kiphire.

The chief guest later inaugurated various stalls set up by the department of Economics and Statistics, Food & civil Supplies, KVK, Veterinary & Animal husbandry, Forest, Medical, Labor, sakhi one stop, soil and water conservation etc.
