Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): Anemia Mukt Bharat Trainings for government teachers and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) under Dimapur district were held from June 20 to 27 in Niuland, Dimapur Sadar, Chümoukedima, Dhansiripar, and Medziphema.

According to a press release, Anemia Mukt Bharat programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to reduce the prevalence of anemia in the vulnerable age group such as women, children and adolescents by focusing on the health and nutrition needs of children, adolescents, women of reproductive age group, pregnant mothers and lactating mothers.

The resource persons sensitised the trainees on the prevalence of anemia in the state and its public health implication such as reduce in physical development, impact on pregnancy outcome, reduced cognitive development and its impact on the economy. They also highlighted the strategies to combat anemia.

The resource persons were Dr Rosemary and Vinitoli for Niuland; Dr Liza, Priscilla and Kavitoli for Chümoukedima; Dr Rebecca and Melengunuo for Dimapur Sadar; Dr Khriekoulie Liezietsu and Mailigdi Naben for Dhansiripar; and Dr Temsu and Nungsangjungla for Medziphema.
