DIMAPUR, JULY 28 (MExN): In response to the Tang public questioning the term ‘anti-Naga’ and ‘anti-Konyak’, the GPRN, in a press release, clarified that any manifestation against the ethics of Naga people’s aspiration is identified as ‘anti-people’. They stated that “as the Konyak people being a constituent of the Naga family, any anti-Naga act becomes anti-Konyak too.”
The release stated that any individual who opposes the peoples’ movement to the extent of disallowing burial rights of national workers at their respective birth places (villages) is a contemptible anti-national manifestation of dishonoring patriots and martyrs of the nation, despite the selfless sacrifices by the latter.
According to the GPRN, Ngampan was a staunch advocate of such acts. He joined the Khaplang group and had orchestrated the killing of many innocent Naga Army cadres and Naga people, it was stated. Even the Konyak people serving in the Naga Army were killed and their mortal remains were disallowed to be buried in their native villages several times by him, it added.
The release cited instances like the killing of Naga Army personnel Manong Konyak of Pongkong village and Sgt. Maj. Anok Konyak of Yuching village in recent times, where the relatives of the deceased were told to take the dead body of the Naga Army to Sumi land, Tangkhul land, Manipur, etc. as against the culture and customs of the Nagas. These antecedents compounding to other anti-Naga/anti-people traits and deeds of commitment constrained the GPRN to term him as an anti-people element.
The release further added that the Konyak people being a part of the Naga family should understand the circumstances in the interest of the Naga people and our nation. “It is in the national interest that all such elements be discouraged so that our adversaries do not take the advantage of a ‘divide and rule’ situation to keep us in chains.”
