GPRN/NSCN clarifies on death of cadre

Dimapur, December 28 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN clarifies on the death of a cadre, said to have been killed on the night of December 22 “under ENPO jurisdiction.”

A note from the group said there are ‘elements’ who are attempting to instigate the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) and others to accuse GPRN/NSCN over the killing of the cadre, one Among Sangtam. A note from “maj. Ongmang Chang, 2 I/C, Wongtho designated camp, Naga army” said “sgt. maj.” Among Sangtam joined five years ago and then in 2009 defected to NSCN (IM) with an M-16 rifle and a US Carbine. In 2011, while at the NSCN-IM’s “Yambemo brigade” at Longleng, he rejoined the Naga army with 3 M-21 rifles and a 303 rifle, the note said.

Sangtam was from Sangsomong village and attached to designated camp Khehoi, the note said. “After obtaining leave, he went to Tuensang and on 22nd Dec. at 3:30 P.M, he came to my residence and attempted to snatch a U.S Carbine from the Naga Army personnel.

As per the information received, he was collaborating with the adversaries with a clear intention to betray the Naga Nation. His blatant attempt to snatch arms from the guards to be presented to enemies is a highest treason and therefore he was awarded the highest punishment,” the note said.

The note further stated that “The victim was not a member of any other organization. He was not a victim of factional clash. He was a member of GPRN/NSCN Naga army who was on the verge of selling himself to the enemies.”
