GPRN/NSCN condemns barbaric assault on its official

DIMAPUR, APRIL 27 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has stated that “indulging in savage physical brutality appears to offer sadistic pleasure to some of the IM cadres stationed at Chumukedima”. A press note from the group’s MIP informed that on the morning of 26th April, 2012, a GPRN/NSCN official Toluho Sumi, an Under Secretary, on duty was “accosted by three Tangkhul speaking IM cadres and forced to come with them where he was blindfolded and savagely assaulted even before reaching Hebron Camp”.

Terming it as “extremely unhealthy on the part of the perpetrators to arrogantly use derogatory words against the tribe to which Toluho belongs to”, the MIP note informed that Toluho was “threatened to be brutally tortured like previous Sumi victims at Chumukedima”.

According to the GPRN/NSCN, this action is a “big embarrassment on the spirit of Naga Reconciliation Process”. “Understanding and brotherhood was cold shouldered replaced by inhuman treatment of the most brutal kind”. Stating that peaceful atmosphere to be sustained, GPRN/NSCN demanded immediate disciplinary action against the perpetrators of the crime. A repetition of such action against GPRN/NSCN assignees at Chumukedima or anywhere will not be tolerated, it stated. A motorcycle, mobile handset, cash and challan must be returned in its original form, the press note demanded.
