Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): Dimapur West Police today informed to have arrested a number of cadres belonging to the GPRN/NSCN and FGN in Dimapur. They were extorting from residents and shops and also threatening and intimidating them police said.
West Dimapur Police arrested two GPRN/NSCN cadres for extorting from residents and shops in Midland colony, Dimapur today. The Dimapur police stated in a press release today that the two persons were identified as one “ss undersecretary” Manshok Konyak from Nuton Bosti, Dimapur and a “section officer” Alex Kikon from Purana Bazar, Dimapur. Rs. 3000 extorted from shops by the two cadres were recovered from the accused, the police said.
In another case, three extortionists, stated to be from the FGN, were arrested for extortion, this time from shops located at New Market. They were serving extortion notes, “taxation slips,” to business owners in the name of the FGN and demanding money by issuing threats, the Dimapur police administration stated. The three extortionists have been identified as one “ss tatar FGN” Atoi Shohe (45), a “ss leacy FGN” Kasheto Chophy (39) and one “ss raja peyu FGN” Khekiye (27), all from Ghoshito village in Niuland, Dimapur.
So-called “information slips” for “taxation bearing the seal of the FGN’s “ministry of chaplee” and Rs. 1445 were seized from the possession of the extortionists, the police said.
