GPRN/NSCN justifies new ‘Pochury region’

Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN today justified the formation of what it called “Pochury region” after ‘confusion in some individuals.’ A note from the ‘Pochury region’ explained its justification for the formation of the said region.
“The recent declaration of the Pochury region of the GPRN/NSCN seems to be confusing to some individuals. The new created region is well-justified and one needs to analyze thoroughly if at all interested to understand the cause of its existence instead of inflicting unnecessary comments best known to them,” the note appended by ‘vice chairman’ of Pochury region Sipichu Sharu stated.
According to the note, the recognition of the Pochury as a tribe has been the “unceasing enormous exertion of time and efforts” of pioneers and organizations from public forums to the elders of the community. “Since time immemorial in the history of Naga nation, our people have shared equal struggle with the fellow Nagas. In the course of later developments as certain platforms emerged, the image of Pochury was not ignored (NSCN-IM, NNC/FGN),” the note explained.
The GPRN/NSCN explained that the formation of ‘Tsary’ is attributed in its name by the river Tizu (Ti), Saramati range (Sa) and the ending syllables of the tribes’ dialects (Ry) – such as Pochury, Sangtamry, Yimchungery and so on. It was formed “provisionally/temporarily in the year 1984” the note said. “The infant political weakness” gave the idea of clubbing together these tribes under the name ‘Tsary” and it was not a permanent agreement, the group stated. Later on, the note said, the Sangtam region has its separate form in 1997, the Yimchunger in 1998 and the Somrah in 2008. The note added that the Pochury “nationalist” were hoping for the same.
Under the leadership of GPRN/NSCN president “gen” Khole and general secretary N Kitovi, declared the Pochury region on July 1, 2011, the note said. “The people of Pochury will not succumb to it even though whoever injects unfavorable circumstances such as division, disunity, misunderstanding etc. wherever we are, we share common prospect, one identity. Pochury is one family,” the note said.
Stating that the Pochury “nationalist” uphold their leaders, the note said “personalizing politics” and issuing threats by vested individuals shall not “be compromised.”
“We shall initiate stern action even to the slightest ignorance of our due loyal regard of our leaders by anyone thereto,” it added.
