GPRN/NSCN (Naga Unification) condemns false surrender claim

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (Naga Unification) has strongly condemned what it described as a “fabricated surrender” staged by the 11 Assam Rifles in collusion with personnel of Zunheboto Police Station on August 19.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity, the group alleged that two Naga youths – Bohovi Khala of Imulo village and Inalu Aye of Litsami village – were falsely projected on social media as having surrendered, with one of them even wrongfully branded as a member of its ranks.

It claimed that both youths, who have since issued clarifications on social media and through their respective village councils, are ordinary civilians with no association with any Naga political group. According to the MIP, the youths were coerced into the act after being made to consume alcohol and lured with monetary inducements.

The GPRN/NSCN (Naga Unification) termed the incident a “despicable act” allegedly motivated by attempts to secure personal gains and promotions, adding that it was a deliberate attempt to malign its image and create distrust among the Naga public. It has cautioned that such actions would not be tolerated in the future.
