GPRN/NSCN Sumi Region impose ban

Dimapur, January 21 (MExN): An order issued by the Government of the People Republic of Nagalim, Sumi Region has informed all village chief, VCC and the Sumi public in general that in pursuance to the previous order of prohibiting hunting, killing, trapping and selling of migratory birds and fishing with modern technique, is strictly prohibited within the Sumi Country. 

The note issued by GPRN/NSCN Sumi Region Tater cum Central Administrative Officer, Atovi Swu stated that if anyone is found violating this ‘azah’ will be “highly punished” under R/R of GPRN Sumi Region and the R/R of GPRN in general and there shall be serious action upon the violating person, GB and village council. This ‘azah’ comes into effect from December 2011 and hold until further order is issued, the note added.

Further, it is informed that anyone who reports this matter to the authority will be awarded Rs. 10, 000. 

The violators will be imposed penalty as following:  killing wild life/fauna-Rs. 25,000; killing and trapping of migratory birds-Rs. 25,000; buyers of migratory birds-Rs. 10,000; fishing with chemical-Rs. 25,000; fishing with battery and generator-Rs. 15,000 and fishing with explosive-Rs. 10,000.
