GPRN/NSCN will not involve in Indian elections

Dimapur, January 20 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (Khole/Kitovi) today said that “as per the resolution of its Cabinet Meeting Dt. 20th Jan 2012, has announced that it will not interfere in the upcoming Assemb ly elections in Manipur.” A note from the MIP stated that “Naga people have been struggling for their right to self determination and it will be a betrayal if GPRN/NSCN fights for an Indian political party. GPRN/NSCN will not be lured into supporting one Indian political party within the Indian constitution because our commitment is to the Naga people and our right is outside the parameter of Indian Constitution. Participating in Indian election will not bring a political solution for the Nagas.” It further said “There is no authorization or endorsement on any GPRN/NSCN official, either in the civil or military, to represent GPRN/NSCN, for or against any political party or candidate in the forthcoming Manipur elections. Regional authorities or Naga army in southern Nagaland are cautioned against tarnishing the good image of the government.”
