Grand Finale of Hornbill Fest 2011 today

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): The Grand Finale of the Hornbill Festival 2011 will be the closing function which will begin at 4:00 pm at Kisama. The main features of the closing function include presentation of Certificates, Christmas Cakes and Cash to the all cultural troupes which will be followed by the lighting of the bon-fire and the performance of ‘Unity Dance’ by all cultural troupes round the bon-fire led by Ao Naga tribe with dance chants and intermittent yodeling and yelling of war cries. Then, there will be an open “Hornbill Dance” with the Tribal Dance Troupes and visitors, who are willing to take part in it.  

It may be stated here that, the ‘Unity Dance’ of the Hornbill Grand Finale will be performed by the all cultural troupes. This year, all the troupes will take the steps of the Ao Naga dance as sign of oneness, unity and strength in our march towards progress and prosperity. It may be mentioned here that, last year it was the Angami tribe who led the ‘unity dance’ as this is being done in an alphabetical sequence.

The other highlights of the day are: Half Marathon at Indira Gandhi Stadium ; cultural performance by different Naga tribes ; top spinning and traditional fire making competition organized by Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland; Naga Cultural performance continues…; Hornbill Photo Competition open to all amateurs at Kisama Bamboo Heritage Hall  and many other interesting features which will interest you.
