Kohima, April 23 (MExN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) on Thursday condemned the “horrific tragedy” at TM-Kasom village on April 18, which claimed the lives of Chinaoshang Shokwungnao and Yaruingam Vashum. The union called the incident a grave violation of human life and demanding that authorities ensure swift and transparent justice.
“There is no place in our community for those who perpetrate such acts of violence,” ASU President Diezevisie Nakhro and General Secretary Rajuselie Chiicha said in a press release, urging concerned authorities to act with urgency.
The Union said that the incident is not as a localised matter but as an assault on the shared security of the entire Naga community and humanity at large.
The ASU extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pledged to stand firm in advocating for the security of the Naga people and the integrity of their homeland.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and the rule of law, the Union said its empathy and concern for justice were not confined by administrative or geographical boundaries. “The value of human life remains absolute and transcends all administrative and geographical distinctions,” ASU stated.
The ASU said it would continue to advocate against the culture of violence in all its forms, maintaining that the protection of one is the protection of all.
