It came to my attention that the ‘Community Hall’ in Shillong is going to be inaugurated by our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri. Neiphieu Rio on 22nd of July 2006.
It immensely refreshed my memories as the foundation stone was laid by our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Neiohieu Rio along with the Hon,ble Health and Family welfare Minister Shri Dr. T.M. Lotha (then was Home Minister), the Chairman of Development Shri. Deo Nukhu (then was Higher and Technical Minister) and other officials from Nagaland during September, 2003. I was then the President of the N.S.U.S. and a member of the Community Hall Building Committee which was leaded by our dynamic elder uncle Mhonbemo Shitiri. As such, I and on behalf of our then executive members, are muchly indepted and concerned to impart our gratitude and appreciation on completion of the long planned project.
At the doorstep, I would like to extend my sincere thankfulness once again to the DAN Government- Hon’ble Shri. Neiphieu rio and his Ministry and all the other officials concerned who eagerly listen to our proposal and granting the central idea as genuine and relevant, for which action of fruits will be enjoyed by the innumerous Naga studentsin particular and by the whole Nagas in Shillong.
This Community Hall would have smoked out with the passage of time, if at all it was not aflamed by the advice, guidance and initiations of our elders in Shillong, for which a lion share of our regards and admirations are showered on them. I would also like to reach out my esteemed honour and appraisal to our A.R.C. Shillong, Smti Martha Ritsa for her goodness, understanding and concerned for social cause through out all this process.
I also recall the enthusiasm and dedication of the students community who comprises the pivotal part of the Committee. Their sacrifices, austerities and yet co-operation to the mainspring has contributed a great impact. On account of which, I hold out my earnest credits and acknowledgement to them. And my thanks giving will be keel over if I don’ mentioned the hardships of the Engineers, Contractors and various other officials without which the building would be laying incomplete.
To elaborate a brief remark of Shillong, it is an academic institutional urban center, inspite of all the other important institutions, as it offer the students from entire North East for quality education. As a matter of fact, we have amble of officers, leaders and talented people that are produced from Shillong. It is also one of the place where majority of our Naga Tribes are gathered together in a particular location sharing their cultures and traditions and inherit the spirit of living togetherness and peacefully.
Two or three years back, the total strength of the Naga students in Shillong was above 6,000 ( Six thousand) members including the adjacent areas under NSUS jurisdiction. The families settling there was around 500 household, approximating 4 numbers in each house, which depicted to 2,000 members. There were also certain other unmarried employed, professional trainees and graduates preparing for various examinations which accounted to nearly thousand in numbers. Thus, the total Naga inhabiting Shillong was more than 9000 in members. The numbers might have fluctuated now but surely with an increase in the population.
Connecting to this related factors, we the students body admit our short comings for lack of reaching information and intimations. However, conduction of certain occasions for Nagas by the Union’s and Fellowship’s becomes difficult to accommodate the large members. For the reasons the students both the Unions and the Fellowships had suffered from spatial occupation.
Now that This problems had been lighten away by the establishment of the Community Hall in Shillong, we due our reciprocation of happiness and gratitude to all the concerned involved for making this dream comes true. The completion of this Community Hall in Shillong has set historical millstone breakthrough in the book of our achievement.
At this stretch, in conclusion, I and on our ex-executives members sent our heartiest greetings and congratulation on completion on the Community Hall and wishes a great success in its full colour during the inauguration on Community Hall in Shillong on 22nd of July, 2006.
