Kohima, May 27 (MExN): The Gorkha Youth Association Kohima (GYAK) marked its 34th Foundation Day on Wednesday through a social outreach programme at the Destitute Children Home in Kohima.

A team led by GYAK president Narayan Bahadur, accompanied by vice president Kiran Gurung and treasurer Robi Thapa, visited the home and donated cash assistance along with essential items for the children residing there, informed a press release from GYAK.

A brief interaction programme was also held with the caretaker of the home, Kevileno Chadi, and the children.

Speaking during the visit, Bahadur stated that the association chose to commemorate its foundation day by extending support to those in need and encouraging the children to remain hopeful about their future.

The association also acknowledged Chadi for her commitment and dedication in running the home.

During the interaction, Chadi shared that the destitute home was formally registered in 2018 with the objective of providing shelter, care and support to underprivileged children.

According to the association, the programme reflected GYAK’s commitment to social responsibility and community service while commemorating 34 years of its establishment.
