Have COVID vaccination only 3 days in a week: Nagaland govt

Wokha, January 20 (MExN): For the next session for COVID vaccination, the Government of Nagaland has directed to have only three days of vaccination in a week i.e. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that routine immunization and routine essential services are not disturbed or interrupted. This was informed by District Immunization Officer (DIO), Wokha, Dr Khelito Zhimomi. 

She also updated that a total of 42 beneficiaries were vaccinated on the fourth day session for vaccination of COVID vaccine at District Hospital, Wokha on January 20. “This first phase is mainly targeted for the Health care Workers (HCWs) as the government wants to protect the HCWs as well as the patients since the HCWs directly come in contact with the patients during clinical practices at the same time goes for contact tracing,” the DIO informed. 

After the healthcare workers are vaccinated the government targets to vaccinate the frontline workers, added the DIO.

She also stated that up-loading of beneficiaries of healthcare workers is done at the same time up-loading of frontline workers is continuing at the State level, she added that more vaccine is expected to reach us so that frontline workers can be vaccinated and after that the target beneficiaries will be 50 years and above and next 50 years and below who have co-morbidity. She appealed all to avail the vaccine during the first phase.

Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, Dr CW Tungoe, who was also administered with the COVID vaccine on January 20, urged and encouraged all to come forward and avail the vaccine while the Government of India is giving the vaccine for free.
