Head Hunters FC (164 Naga TA) and Mez & Co FC (Kohima) today defeated their respective opponents in the semi finals and entered final of the ongoing 8th edition of Capt. N Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament 2024 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Head Hunters FC-5, Halcyon United-4
In the first semi-final, Head Hunters FC narrowly defeated Halcyon United (Phek) in a tense 5-4 penalty shootout after a goalless 90 minutes play.
The shootout kept fans on the edge of their seats, with both teams showing remarkable composure.
Halcyon United’s Weliso, Metshetso, Erikulo, and Lhiwete all converted their shots, but Ngamminlun’s missed attempt gave Head Hunters the opening they needed.
Head Hunters FC’s lineup, with flawless finishes from Molutsapong, Lamsanggin, Winamthiu, Haokhohen, and Haidingbe, sealed their place in the finals.
Mez & Co FC-4, Dynamo FC-0
The second semi-final showcased a powerful performance by Mez & Co FC, who swept past Dynamo FC (Dimapur) with a 4-0 victory to secure their spot for grand finale.
Vinato opened the scoring in the 34th minute for Mez & Co FC, followed by a precise strike from Tohika in the 44th minute.
In the second half, Yitachu struck in the 80th minute, with Menguzelie adding a final goal in injury time to secure Mez & Co’s clean sheet and their place in tomorrow’s final.
The tournament will conclude on November 12.
