Health camp on anemia screening held at Pungro CHC

Kiphire, April 6 (MExN): A special health camp on anemia screening was conducted at Pungro Community Health Centre (CHC) under Kiphire district on April 6 under the SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels initiative.

The camp, organised by Nature SBI Foundation Nagaland, began at 9:00 am and provided services including anemia screening, general health check-ups, diabetes screening, doctor consultations and laboratory tests. The tests covered ABO grouping, HIV/SYP, haemoglobin (HB%), random blood sugar (RBS), scrub typhus and malaria screening.

The medical team was led by Dr Siku of Pungro CHC and Dr Lillio from Nature SBI Foundation, assisted by nurses and technicians.

 

A total of 132 beneficiaries attended the camp, out of which 17 underwent laboratory tests, including RBS, malaria parasite and scrub typhus screening.

Speaking on the occasion, Project Lead of Nature SBI Foundation Nagaland, Longtili C Sangtam, thanked Dr Siku and the Pungro CHC team for their support. He also acknowledged the International Border Area People’s Welfare Organisation (IBAPWO), led by N Apong, for mobilising the community and supporting the programme. He stated that such initiatives are benefiting people in the area.

 

Highlighting recent activities, he informed that in March, 160 laboratory tests were conducted, including ABO, RBS, scrub typhus, malaria, Widal and haemoglobin tests. A total of 115 MOPD cases were recorded, with 1,416 beneficiaries served. The team also conducted two awareness camps, one sanitation drive and one specialist health camp.

Chief Functionary of IBAPWO, N Apong, stated that the free medical camp was organised in collaboration with Nature SBI Foundation and that patients were examined and provided free medicines by the medical team.

The organisers stated that the initiative aims to improve access to healthcare services in remote areas.
