Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): Department of Health & Family Welfare conducted a free Health Mela at Mangkolemba CHC from October 8 to 9, 2011. The health Mela was organized by District Health Society, Mokokchung to provide free specialized Medical care to the villagers. Altogether, 512 patients availed free health treatment including 22 ANC, 5 Cu.T INSERT IGNOREions, and nine dental extractions. Free laboratory services were also provided where 57 laboratory investigations were done. Patients from nearby villages such as Longchem, Mongchen, Athupu, hills, Japu and Longjemdang also availed the free treatment. All services of health mela were provided free of cost and free medicines were also distributed. Women availing ANC and Cu.T INSERT IGNOREion were also given special package.
The medical team was lead by Dr.S.S.Akaba.Dy.CMO, Dr.Mar, Orthopedics, Dr.Kilangwapang Medicine, Dr.Sakuyuba Imchen, ENT, Dr.Ademla Tinu, Gynaecologist, Dr.Bernard, Surgeon, Dr.Maongkala, Dr. Imtijungshi, Dr.Imlinaro, Dr.Ayangla Saku, Dr.Arenla, Dental Surgeon and Sangyula, Opthalmic Assistant was assisted by Nurses and Pharmacists.
The IEC team also conducted group discussions on the topic maternal health with pregnant women and Family planning with Eligible men. Posters and leaflets on different health topics were also distributed. The health Mela was held successfully with the coordination of HCMC members of Mangkolemba, Volunteers and ASHAs. Further the HCMC has also expressed gratitude to the Department of Health & family welfare for conducting the Health Mela.
