Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): The 1st Quarterly District Review for 2011-12 of the Department of Health & Family Welfare was held on August 30at the conference hall of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima.
Gracing the quarterly review meeting, Minister Health & FW Kuzholuzo Nienu stated that it is not a fault finding meeting but one to improve the overall health care system. He appreciated the officers of the department both at state and district levels for their sincere efforts in improving the department. Stating that as humans, we tend to make mistakes but in a crucial department like the medical department one cannot afford to make mistakes all the time and therefore he urged personnel at all levels to be on their toes at all times. He urged upon the officers to have more interaction and deliberate upon those areas which need improvement. He wished the deliberation a success and assured them of his support.
Welcoming the Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents of the 11 districts, Dr. R. Imtimeren Jamir, Principal Director, DoHFW who chaired the 1st session asked the districts to be very specific in their presentations. Six districts of Kohima, Wokha, Longleng, Mokokchung, Kiphire and Zunheboto gave presentations on their district specific performance during the morning session which was moderated by Dr. Yangerlemla, Director (Health). The districts of Dimapur, Tuensang, Peren, Mon and Phek presented their performance during the afternoon session chaired by Dr. Toshevi Sema, Mission Director (NRHM) and Director (FW) while Dr. Khanlo Magh, Additional Director moderated the 2nd session.
The overall performance of all 11 districts during the 1st quarter of 2011-12 were discussed and deliberated upon in relation to manpower, indicators in HMIS, maternal & child health, family planning, institutional delivery and also performance in other health programmes such as NVBDCP, NLEP, NSACS, NPCB, RNTCP etc. Activities under communitization and outreach activities were also discussed at length.
The one day meeting was attended by Menukhol John, Commissioner & Secretary, Health & FW, Dr. Imtimeren Jamir, Principal Director (H&FW), Dr. Yangerlemla, Director (Health), Dr. Toshevi Sema, Mission Director, NRHM & Director (FW), other senior officials of the Directorate, State Programme Officers of various health programmes, Chief Medical Officers of districts, Medical Superintendents of District Hospitals, district programme officers and District programme managers.
