Health Minister visits DH Dimapur; assures to address grievances

Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): Nagaland Minister for Health & Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom on Monday met with medical officers at District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) to take stock of the availability of equipments, medicines and other logistics and address grievances.

Addressing the meeting at the DHD Chapel Hall, the Minister lauded the doctors, nurses and health workers for rendering their services in the fight against the pandemic and assured them their grievances would be looked into according to ‘need based system,’ a DIPR report stated.

Pointing out that every department has a system which cannot be bypassed, Pangnyu advised them to send the requirements in the form of proposals, the report added.

The Minister is also said to have expressed concern on the lack of CT scanners and X-Ray machines at the hospital, as per the report. Pangnyu directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Medical Superintendent (MS) to submit official proposals at the earliest and said that the department would provide the requirements, it stated. During the meeting, the CMO highlighted on the COVID scenario of Dimapur district and informed that there are presently 10 COVID Hospitals out of which two have not been activated yet. However, everything has been set in place, mock drills have also been undertaken and the hospitals can be activated anytime as and when need arises, he added. The CMO also informed that the district was comfortable with sufficient COVID beds as well as oxygen cylinders, the report stated.

Meanwhile, the MS informed the minister that the Round Table India Trust in collaboration with Rotary Club Dimapur has donated ‘50-bedded equipments at a designated ward at DHD and the equipments have starting arriving.’ Additionally, the MS informed that Invest India has plans in the pipeline for providing a pre-fabricated 48-bedded COVID Hospital. She observed that with more infrastructures, more workforces would be required and requested the minister to look into rational distribution of workforce.

District Immunization Officer, Dr Rebecca highlighted the vaccination status of the district and recommended maximum allocation of vaccines at Dimapur, taking into consideration the population of district, the report stated.
