Residents inspect a landslide-hit stretch after heavy rainfall triggered mudslides and uprooted trees, blocking a road in the Bhandari area of Wokha district on Sunday.

Continuous heavy rainfall has caused fresh damage in the Bhandari area of Nagaland's Wokha district, triggering road subsidence at multiple locations and a landslide that has left a house at risk of collapse after destroying its retaining wall.
At Lio-Longchum village, a section of the Bhandari 'O' Point-Yimpang Road developed significant subsidence and was also hit by a landslide following incessant rainfall.
The road, which serves as the only access route connecting Bhandari village with Lio-Longchum, Alikhum and Yimpang, has become difficult and hazardous for commuters. Residents said the road's condition has deteriorated rapidly and appealed for its immediate restoration.
Another incident of road damage was reported at Woko Tsophen in Bhandari village, where the road has developed large cracks and is sinking due to continuous rainfall, making travel unsafe.
Meanwhile, a fresh landslide along the road leading to Bhandari village brought down soil, rocks and uprooted trees onto the roadway, partially obstructing traffic.
In a separate incident, a rain-triggered landslide completely destroyed the retaining wall of a house in Bhandari, leaving the structure at risk of collapse. Although no casualties or injuries were reported, residents expressed concern that continued rainfall could trigger another landslide and bring down the house.
Residents have appealed to the district administration and the concerned departments to immediately inspect the affected sites, restore the damaged roads, clear landslide debris and undertake slope stabilisation measures before the situation worsens.
