Heavy vehicles diversion damages Kezoma-Kidima road, water pipeline

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 21 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, along with Revenue Officer Kohima, Kevingoto Kulnu, Extra Assistant Commissioner Kezocha Limakumla Pongener, Executive Engineer PHED Rural Kohima, Er. Kedo Punyü, DDMO NSDMA Kohima, Thejangulie Zao, SDO PHED, and other officials visited Kezoma village on September 19 to assess damage to the village water pipeline and road.

The Kezoma Village Council reported that after NH-02 was cut off at Phesama, all Manipur-bound heavy vehicles were diverted via the Kezoma-Kidima road (MDR). The high-volume traffic, compounded by incessant rains, damaged the road and the adjacent water pipeline, disrupting supply and causing hardship to villagers.

The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the village’s cooperation during the diversion period. He said restoration of the Kezoma-Kidima road would be funded by NHIDCL and implemented through the state agency. The damaged water pipeline will be restored through collaboration between the District Administration, PHED, and NSDMA.

Executive Engineer PHED Rural Kohima assured that restoration work would begin on September 22 and is expected to be completed within 15 days.
