High security vehicle numbers now

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): Nagaland becomes the fourth state in the country to introduce the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). The HSRP was launched by state Transport Commissioner H Achumi on June 15 at the Regional Transport Office in Kohima.   
A note Joint Transport Commissioner S Teka Jamir today said the HSRP will not be hot-stamped and it will have reflective sheet guaranteed for a minimum of five years. It has security features such as holograms, specialized number plates fitted with non-reusable snap lock.
“It will also have a 3rd registration mark in the form of self-destructive type which will display engine number chassis number and the front and rear registration plate serial number affixed on the left hand top side of the windshield of the vehicle,” Jamir informed.  
All vehicles registered in the state after the launch of the scheme will be affixed with HSRP, vehicles registered prior to the launch of the scheme shall have to be fitted with HSRP within two years. Setting the HSRP will be done in the office premises of the RTO/DTO where vehicles are registered.
