HIV/AIDS sensitization prog at Longsa successful

Dimapur, November 11 (MExN): The results of launching of the Bharti Infratel Ltd. sponsored HIV/AIDS sensitization programme at Longsa Village on November 28, 2010, has been very positive.
Mokokchung NMP+ President Toshi Sangpi in  press release said that the sensitization programmes have shown tremendous success for clarification of HIV/AIDS myths and misconceptions especially during the question/discussion hour sessions as well as huge participant turnout at the sensitization camps. This is reflected in the way people now come out in large numbers to avail HIV blood testing services.
A bright aspect of the HIV/AIDS sensitization programmes is the disclosure by participants that they were earlier complacent with ignorance of their HIV status as their fear and apprehension of HIV/AIDS prevented them from availing HIV blood tests, the release stated. However, since their doubts, myths and misconceptions about HIV and AIDS have been dispelled through the sensitization programmes, the participants revealed their conviction and expressed eagerness to go for HIV blood screening at the earliest.
The vision behind the HIV/AIDS sensitization campaign is the prevention of further HIV infections as well as eradication of stigma and discrimination to effect an enabling environment for people living with HIV. This campaign will continue till all the villages of Mokokchung District have been covered. Recently, NMP+ successfully conducted on October 27, 28 and 29 HIV/AIDS sensitization programmes at Moayimti, Merangkong Compound and Chungtiayimsen villages of Mokokchung District on October 16, 23 and 30 respectively.
