HMAD raises concern on tampered price tag report

Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): The Hardware Merchants’ Association Dimapur (HMAD) on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the recent report of one of its members allegedly involved in selling hardware items with tampered price tags.

While appreciating the NSCN (IM) Special Investigation Team for corruption for its effort to uproot corruption and malpractices in Dimapur, the HMAD was of the view that detection of such crimes should be reported to the district administration and offenders be dealt with appropriate action.

Further, the HMAD appealed the NSCN (IM) to revoke its order of issuing quit notice to the proprietor of the hardware store, “as such an action does not deem fit for the offence committed.”

Pointing out that rampant taxations and donations coupled with lockdown due to the pandemic may have led the concerned trader to resort to such malpractice, the Association said that while it does not intend to say that the offender(s) should be left unpunished for the crime(s) committed, concerned authorities must also consider what could have led the offender to take such a step for survival of the business.
