Hollow brick manufacturing unit opens in Kiphire

Kiphire, October 5 (MExN): A hollow brick manufacturing unit was inaugurated today in Kiphire by the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC), T Wati Aier.

The unit was assisted by the Department of Cooperation under Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) Kiphire to Lanye multi-purpose cooperative society Ltd.    

The Department of Cooperation assisted in setting up the unit by givng Rs 4 lakh as well as Rs 9. 50 lakh for pickup vehicle for transportation purpose to the Lanya Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd Kiphire, a DIPR report informed. 

Inaugurating the unit, the DC Kiphire maintained that the district was fortunate that the State Government is assisting the public in various fields like agriculture, horticulture, LRD and cooperative department at every level including villages, it said.  

Aier also urged that the Lanya Society to make the bricks comparable with others, and sell them with a reasonable price so that more products will be demanded. 

He further advised the society to focus on the project and not to take it as a one-time project but take it as an eye opener for their society so that more opportunity can be avail even in the days to come, the report added.

Meanwhile, SRCS & CPO (ICDP), K Lirichum Anar informed that the Department of Cooperation is implementing central sector integrated scheme on Agricultural cooperation of integrated cooperative development project in Kiphire District through the National cooperative development cooperation. 

The unit was part of the project. 

He further explained the features of hollow blocks and said that they were compact in design with trouble-free functionality, negligible and easy maintenance, easy working method and operation manual, and highly durable.

For curing time, it takes approximately 28 days - one day expose, seven days in water and 21 days in partly wet, Anar added.

He also requested the society to be pro-active in their business so as to avoid possible loan repayment problem. 

With the motto, "Coming together is the beginning, sitting together is the progress and working together is the success", the society should work hard and be an exemplary model to other cooperative societies in the District, he added.
