Tobu, January 11 (MExN): Holy Redeemer Church (HRC), Tobu marked its Golden Jubilee on January 9 with a grand celebration, with Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, serving as the Chief Celebrant of the solemn Holy Eucharistic celebration.
The occasion was attended by a large gathering of priests, nuns and Catholic faithful from various parishes and centres across Nagaland.
Public leaders and pastors from Baptist churches in the Tobu area also graced the event, reflecting a spirit of unity and inter-faith harmony, informed a press release from the Jubilee Planning Committee.
As part of the celebrations, the Jubilee Monolith was blessed by Bishop Thoppil and unveiled by Yangba Konyak, DIGP Kohima.
During the Holy Eucharistic celebration, 59 children received their First Holy Communion, while 54 faithful received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
In his homily, Rev Dr Thoppil congratulated the parishioners on reaching the significant milestone and encouraged the community to remain firm in faith, serve God with humility and continue building a vibrant and spiritually strong parish.
The programme was chaired by Davidson Ngushu, while John Khangnyu felicitated the delegates and invitees.
