DIMAPUR, JUNE 14 (MExN): “Home Coming” of 40 cadres of proscribed Peoples United Liberation Front (UMAR FAROOQUE) was facilitated through a simple ceremony organised at HQ IGAR(S), Mantripukhri on 14 Jun 2011. O Ibobi Singh Chief Minister of Manipur formally welcomed these youth to the main stream. The ceremony was also attended by Y Joykumar, DGP and Maj Gen CA Krishnan, AVSM, IGAR(S).
According to a press note from PRO IGAR South, 40 cadres of  Peoples  United Liberation (UMAR FAROOQUE) and 01 cadre of  KCP(NANDO) laid down arms which included, one  SLR, two AK-47, four AK-56, two  M-16  Rifles, one M-20 Rifles, four  303 bolt Rifles,  four 9 mm CM, one  9mm Thomson CM, thirteen 9mm Pistol,  one pt 22 Rev, two 7.65 mm Pistol, one pt. 32mm Pistol and two Hand Grenade.   
The State Govt’s rehabilitation policy is encouraging more and more misguided young men to abjure violence and join the main stream. During the past one year 166 cadres have laid down arms in IGAR(S) alone, which is in addition to the 122 cadres of the KCP (MC) Lallumba group who signed the tripartite agreement with the Govt of India and Govt of Manipur.
 Speaking on the occasion, the CM stated that peace and freedom from crime and terrorism are the catalysts for progress and development. He also congratulated the youth for having taken the brave and right decision to tread the path of peace. Further elaborating on the occasion, the CM applauded the role of the Assam Rifles and State Police in facilitating the Home coming and rehabilitation process for the misguided youth. He rebutted the allegation by Tehelka about stage managing the home coming by saying that members laying down weapons belong to the valley area and are known to the local people and hence there is no question of faking a home coming.  
The DGP while speaking on the occasion also lauded Assam Rifles and Army for their efforts to bring peace and normalcy in the State. Rebutting    the reports by Tehelka in a local daily against this Home Coming he clarified the actual facts and requested the media to go by the actual facts instead of such baseless allegations by people who are sitting far away.
