Home for elderly flays extortion bid

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN):  The management of Kohima Old Age Home and a group called Good Samaritan Women Society today denounced the act of an impersonator from Chazouba village accused of impersonation and extorting from people in the name of the home for elderly people. The alleged impersonator, one Khotsoto Keyho from Chazouba village was caught red-0handed on July 14 afternoon and handed over to the police.

A letter from the founder and managing director of Kohima Old Age Home Neithonuo Liegise said the management and the women’s group denounces the act of the accused. He is a “stranger” and has no connection with the home for the elderly, the letter said. Lamenting that the accused has insulted and defamed the image of the home for the elderly, the letter has cautioned the public against people who claim donations in the name of the institution.

The institution also noted that a group called ‘Benevolent Welfare Society Kohima’ has been selling calendars allegedly to help the members of Kohima Old Age Home but “never helped the home.” The letter warned the said group from ‘indulging in such unauthorized donation or selling of materials in future.’
