Home Minister failed his political duty: NPCC

Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has said that Home Minister Imkong L. Imchen’ s “outburst” against the NPCC for its statement on the factional clash on December 18 and 19 “proved as to who was irresponsible.” The NPCC said that Imchen’s arrogance was totally uncalled for, unbecoming of a responsible Minister and simply unacceptable in a civilized democratic set up.
“It appears that he is losing his mental balance from nervousness.  He should not forget that as the Home Minister, he is entirely responsible for the total break down in the State law and order machinery to control the situation on those two unfortunate days,” the NPCC staid in a statement received here today. The NPCC said that as the Home Minister, he has failed miserably in his political duty and responsibility in ordering appropriate action by the State law and order machinery; adding that the “opposition party has every right to point fingers at him for his inaction.”
The NPCC added that the Home Minister can’t cover his own failures by attempting to gag the voice of the opposition and called him a “confused man.” “Probably he was again confused as to whether it was a State law and order problem or a political problem.”
Also taking a dig at the Home Minister, the NPCC stated that “it is amusing that of all the people Imkong L. Imchen is preaching sense of responsibility,” adding that he is one NPF Minister who is popularly known for making irresponsible statements.  The NPCC said that if the Minister had he any sense of responsibility and political morality, he “should have resigned on the issue of bogus teachers appointment as the then Minister for Education and for the case as recent as the Rs. 18 crore fraudulent withdrawal by DGP Nagaland in the Home department.”
