Hornbill Festival 2019 from today

A ten day long Hornbill Festival of Nagaland will start from December 1 at the picturesque Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
Kisama lies around 10 km away from state capital Kohima.
The inaugural function will take place at 4:00 PM at the main arena Kisama with Nagaland’s Governor R.N. Ravi as the chief host and chief minister Neiphiu Rio as the host.
Traditional blessing will be pronounced by Mongtei of Aniashu village.
During the inaugural function all the cultural troupes are to line up both sides from the main gate to the Main Rostrum to welcome the guests.
All the troupes are to yell and yodel followed by beating of log drums in their respective morungs.
Organized by the state government, Hornbill Festival is an annual tourism promotional event to showcase Nagaland's traditional and rich cultural heritage in all its ethnicity, diversity and grandeur.
The Hornbill Festival is a collaborative celebration of all Naga tribes at one venue and has been coined as the ' Festival of festivals. '
The festival is a tribute to the great 'Hornbill ' which is the most admired and revered bird for the Naga's, for its quality of alertness and grandeur.
The majestic bird is closely identified with the social and cultural life of the Nagas as reflected in various tribal folklores, dances and songs. The awe and admiration of the bird is symbolically displayed on almost all tribal traditional headgears worm during the festivals and it's indicative of the unity of the Nagas.
