Several visitors thronged the 2nd World War Museum, Kisama to take look at relics of arms and various equipments.
Art & Culture Department official informed that the museum will keep open for visitors from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily till December 10.

Set up Heritage Village Kisama, the 2nd World War Museum is an effort to present as best as possible a true image of the historic battle that took place at Kohima from April 4, 1944 to May 1944, between the invading Japanese 31st Division and the defending British 2nd Division and allied forces.

The museum holds a collection of artifacts from the time of the battle, models and an extensive collection of visuals panels that explore and explain the context, events and outcomes of the battle, a brochure stated.

The collection is augmented with visual presentations that give an insight into the battle and also bring alive the memories of some of those who lived through the conflict.

Acknowledged as the fieriest battle that took place anywhere during the 2nd World War 1939 to 1945 which marked the end of the World War II.

With the defeat of the Japanese attack at Kohima, the Japanese plan to march to the Indian mainland through Kohima was foiled effectively, the brochure stated.

On display are relics of arms and various equipments used by both sides during the long siege of Kohima with fierce and determined battles by heroes of Kohima defenders against determined Japanese attacks.
