Hornbill Festival 2022: Kohima Police issue traffic advisory

Kohima, November 29 (MExN): In view of the Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama with events at various locations within Kohima town from December 1 to 10, Kohima Police has issues traffic advisory. 

To ensure smooth traffic during the festive period, the following advisories are issued for compliance:
•    No heavy vehicles will be allowed to enter Kohima Municipal area after 7:00 am till 10:00 pm from December 1 to 10. To mitigate traffic congestion, all heavy vehicles will be stopped at the following locations: Dzüdza Bridge, Jotsoma By-Pass, Khuzama Police check gate.

•    All loading/unloading within Kohima Municipal area must be completed before 7:00 am.

•    The road stretch from Y-Junction Phoolbari to Razhü Point will be restricted for vehicular traffic from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm on all days during the festival to facilitate Kohima Night Carnival. All traffic will be diverted from Y-Junction to Razhü Point via Local Ground (Khuochiezie).

•    There will be no-entry for any vehicular traffic from New Market to New NST from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. 

•    Parking facilities will be available at the following locations: New Multi-Level parking building, Old NST; New Multi-Level parking building, Old Medical Directorate.

•    Commuter transversing between Kohima and Kisama and also those commuting within Kohima are advised to take the following route to avoid traffic congestion: NH-29-Merhülietsa Colony (Para-Medical)-Old Fira Jn. Route; T.C.P Gate-Midland-Lower Chandmari-A.G Colony-Lerie-NH-29 route; BSNL Jn-Old Ministers’ Hill-New Ministers’ Hill-Aradhura-New Reserve-NH-29 route; NHK junction-New Market-Nagabazar-Census Office junction.

“The above traffic regulations and advisories will be enforced from December 1 to 10. Kohima Police request the cooperation of everyone in this regard,” PRO, Kohima Police stated in its advisory.
