HRDP project for holistic rural development in Mon district

Mon, March 12 (MExN): The Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP), sponsored by HDFC under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and implemented by AROH Foundation in collaboration with the District Administration, was inaugurated by Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak on March 11. 

The inauguration began with the opening of a Smart Classroom at Government High School (GHS), Mon with a ribbon cutting ceremony. This was followed by the official inaugural program at the Council Hall of Mon village, stated a DIPR report. 

Advisor Wangpang Konyak, in his address, emphasized that HRDP is more than a project—it is a vehicle for social and economic transformation. He expressed gratitude to HDFC and AROH Foundation for their commitment to inclusive development and urged the 15 Village Council Chairpersons (VCCs) and residents to maintain the newly developed infrastructure responsibly.

Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, explained the project’s vision of adopting villages for complete transformation. He urged AROH Foundation to prioritize basic infrastructure development in the next action plan, as the district still lags in essential facilities. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to HDFC for its efforts in bringing change to one of the most remote regions of the country. Special recognition was given elected representatives from Mon District for their continuous support in driving development initiatives.

Angin Konyak provided a detailed overview of the HRDP project. She highlighted that the project is designed to bring comprehensive improvements across multiple sectors, ensuring holistic development in the selected villages. Hemant Singh Tanwar, Project Head, AROH Foundation, concluded the event with a vote of thanks. He acknowledged the Advisor for inaugurating the project and expressed sincere gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Mon, for his persistent efforts in securing HRDP’s implementation.

The event was also graced by government officials, AROH Foundation officials and the people of Mon District. The initiative aims to transform 15 villages across Mon, Tizit, and Chen blocks over the next three years.

Two ALS ambulances handed over to District Hospital Mon

Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak also handed over two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances to District Hospital, Mon on March 11. 

The DIPR report stated that Advisor, Wangpang Konyak lauded NHPC Ltd’s initiative, stating that these life-saving ambulances would significantly aid critically patients in the district. He appreciated the proactive efforts of Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma and also Minister for Health & Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak for his enabled guidance in improving Mon’s healthcare system.

Delivering the welcome address, MS, District Hospital Mon, Dr Aman Konyak, expressed gratitude to NHPC Ltd for providing the ambulances under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. He also thanked the Deputy Commissioner of Mon for ensuring continuous CSR support in the healthcare sector. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in his vote of thanks thanked all stakeholders for their efforts and expressed hope for continued collaboration in strengthening healthcare facilities in Mon. The handing over ceremony was chaired by BPM Mon Block, Pongchai Konyak.

Last week, Mon received two ALS ambulances and two hearse vans under CSR support from NHPC Ltd. Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma acknowledged NHPC Ltd’s contribution and reiterated the administration’s commitment to upgrading health infrastructure. He urged the medical department to actively put forward its requirements for further improvement.
