Hurricane CC lifts 7th Unity Cup

Hurricane CC emerged champions of the 7th Unity Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organized by Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Youth Sports Ministry at Chümoukedima Local Ground.

Chümoukedima, February 7 (MExN): Hurricane CC emerged champions of the 7th Unity Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organized by Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Youth Sports Ministry at Chümoukedima Local Ground. A total of 28 teams took part in the tournament which was held from January 14 to February 7 with the theme ‘Solidarity for Peace.’ 

The winning team walked away with cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with running trophy while the runner-up received Rs 20,000 sponsored by RK Shuya, Ward-2 Chairman Chümoukedima Town. 

Man of the Final match was Ajay who made 78 runs to help Hurricane cc beat Dimapur Slammers CC by 53 runs.

 Among the individual awards, Krishna Chettri of Bokajan XI Star CC was named the best bowler while Ajay of Hurricane CC was adjudged the best batsman. Nagaho of Slammers CC was awarded player of the tournament. Tokemi Achumi of Deccan Strikers CC was awarded Emerging Player of the tournament. The tournament was Co-Sponoser by Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur, BN Sound, Roy Arcade. The media partner was Dimapur Today, Chümou Blog.

Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Secretary, Nagaland Cricket Association, Kutoho Chishi, Working President, Dimapur District Congress Committee and Robert Aley, Council Chairman of Association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland graced the occasion as special guest, chief guest and guest of honour in the event. 

Jacob Sundas, Convenor 7th Unity Cup encouraged the Players to stand firm in their commitment until the next Tournament in 2023.
