Imphal, September 10 (NNN): The Ibobi Singh led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government of Manipur is the worst of the lot, said Prakash Javedkar, BJP national spokesperson near here. The BJP leader also demanded for the imposition of the President's Rule in Manipur. The BJP national spokesperson and election in-charge of Manipur led a high level team to Manipur which also included BJP national general secretary Tapir Gao and zonal secretary (NE) P Chandra Shekhar Rao. The team arrived yesterday as a prelude to election season which is set to heat up the ensuing winter until it culminates in an Assembly election slated for early next year. Speaking to the media at the party’s state office before the team took off for the national capital today, Javedkar said if lokayukta were to be enforced in Manipur all the ministers would be cooling off their heels in jail.
The MP said that the visiting team submitted a memorandum to the Governor yesterday advising the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur. “The SPF government is a partisan administration and has lost all credibility. Not only are the ministers corrupt themselves, they also seem to promote corruption and black marketing in the state,” he said. The BJP national spokesperson said his party will raise in the national Parliament the issue of rampant corruption in Manipur and demand the implementation of lokpal in the state.
Observing that the issue of corruption and black marketing is linked in Manipur to unavailability of essential commodities due to frequent economic blockades, Javedkar said the state government must acquire sufficient stock of essential commodities and at all time and the same should be made available to the general public at a subsidized rate.
Taking serious note of the long and winding queues which has become a common sight in petrol service stations across Manipur since the beginning of August following general strike and economic blockade by Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee for a full-fledged Sadar Hills district, Javedkar said the party will launch signature campaign in petrol stations across the state and submit the same to the Central government.
